Six former death row inmates spoke out against the death penalty at the state Capitol Thursday.

Students participating in an Anti-Death Penalty Alternative Spring Break program joined them to raise awareness about the risk of executing innocent people.

They're doing it by sharing stories like that of Ron Keine, who was exonerated nine days before his execution date. The group wants the legislature to pass a two year moratorium on all executions.

"We've got to stop the death penalty. We have to stop it. It's archaic, it's barbaric, it's morally wrong. It's not indicative of a civilized society," Keine said.

Students and death row survivors are advocating for Henry Skinner who is scheduled to be executed in Texas Wednesday.

They believe Skinner is innocent and are asking that his request for a DNA test be granted.
